On a hunch, try the following:

# cd /usr/ports/x11-servers/xorg-server
# make clean
# make rmconfig
# make config

then try your upgrade again=2E
NOTE: the last command; make config, is optional=2E If you're fine with
the default settings, it isn't necessary=2E
