i have FreeBSD 2.1.0 running with IP forwarding set as gateway="YES"
I have two interfaces:-
ed0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet 144.178.217.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 144.178.217.255
ether 08:00:00:03:62:50
ep0: flags=863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNNING,SIMPLEX> mtu 1500
inet 144.178.209.4 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 144.178.209.255
ether 00:a0:24:0e:68:35
Backbone net is 144.178.209.0 and workgroup subnet is 144.178.217.0
The ip forwarding is allowing routing from interface ed0 to ep0 - but not from
ep0 to ed0.
IE:- my subnet can get out but the backbone can't get in.
from startup:-
configuring host as a gateway.
net.inet.ip.forwarding: 0 -> 1
I guess that i require something like:- net.inet.ip.forwarding: 1 -> 0
there is very little documentation for sysctl in man 3 and man 8 for
ip.forwarding.
There is also little information in the FAQ.
I would like some help if possible to get IP forwarding working.
Thanx in advance.
Tony
