You haven't told us what you did.

You should be able to set the IP with a command something like:

	ifconfig fxp1 inet 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0

To setup at boot time, add:

	ifconfig_fxp1="inet 192.168.1.1  netmask 255.255.255.0"

to /etc/rc.conf and reboot.
