While the final EOL date is a long way off, full support and maintenance
support1 have already ended:

More importantly, vendors are beginning to drop support for it in their lat=
est
releases, e.g. we cannot run some CUDA scientific apps until we upgrade our
CentOS systems to 7.

I agree that flavors are likely the best solution.  I'll experiment with the
flashplayer ports ASAP and post results here.
