The boot server is i386 running 5.4-PRERELEASE, the UltraSparc nfs root is 5.3-RELEASE. On the server, I'm running: mountd (-r) nfsd (-u -t -n 4) rpcbind rpc.statd rpc.lockd The Ultra will boot fine, however, whenever I attempt to create an account, set a passwd, etc (anything that requires a file lock), I get an error telling me "Operation not supported". Thus, I have only a root account with a null password 8>0 rpcinfo(8) shows: program version(s) netid(s) service owner 100000 2,3,4 local, udp, tcp rpcbind superuser 100005 3,1 tcp,udp mountd superuser 100003 3,2 tcp,udp nfs superuser 100024 1 tcp,udp status superuser 100021 4,3,1,0 tcp,udp nlockmgr superuser and the Ultra kernel is built with: options BOOTP # User bootp to obtain IP address/hostname options BOOTP_NFSROOT # NFS mount root filesystem w/ bootp info options BOOTP_NFSV3 # NFSv3 for mount root options BOOTP_COMPAT # Workaround for broken bootp daemons options BOOTP_WIRED_TO=hme0 # Use interface hme0 for BOOTP I didn't find anything recent on the web to suggest that this shouldn't work; I may have missed something in configuring the setup. Any advice is welcome. -- Joshua Lokken Open Source Advocate
