It is not clear to me which OS version you a running. If it is 12.1-RELEASE than please update to latest 12-STABLE. Than check that I2C bus controller = has been properly detected (ig4 driver should appear in pciconf -lv output). And than install sysutils/iichid port. Than try to test touchpad with e.g. libi= nput and Xorg.
