It doesn't sound like you've the Linuxulator enabled/started.
Type "kldstat" at a shell prompt. If you don't see "linux.ko", then
that is your problem. Use sysinstall or edit /ect/rc.conf to say
linux_enable="YES" and restart your system. Things should work after
that.
