sounds as if your config is wrong or have apache pointed to get its
*.conf's from another directory other than the normal /usr/local/www/conf

First: buy a UPS... it'll save you thousands in the long run (I'm kinda
partial to my deltec's, but anything works really)

Second: it all depends.. if the HD is physically damaged or has logic
damage, it may be hanging the IDE controller and leaving the system 'hung'
indefenetly.  I have a drive that does this, no matter what operating
system or FS I use.

I can never stress this enough to people...  UPS'es save computers, time,
and lots of money in the long run.  I've replaced enough spike or
long-term-brownout damaged power supplies in my life to know this.  I
haven't replaced a power supply in well over a year, since we got UPSes...
The only thing that even happens is the fan bearings go out and raise hell,
but thats easily ignorable since it usually goes away after 5 minutes of
being on..
