Too many people fall into this trap without realizing just what goes into /var. (I know I did the first time I installed FreeBSD, was used to Linux's monolithic / partition.) This a the world of 20+ GB hard drives for under 200$ Canadian. There really is no reason for the default /var to be at 20 Mb (last I checked). I know that just me alone on a workstation can easily end up with more mail than that. We aren't talking server configs where "the admin should know better" - we're talking every-day desktop usage. I set my /var at 150 Mb, which always has worked fine for me long as I clear out logfiles here and there.. This isn't a flame, just wondering why this is still the same :) Matt * Matt Heckaman - mailto:matt@lucida.ca http://www.lucida.ca/pgp * * GPG fingerprint - 53CA 8320 C8F6 32ED 9DDF 036E 3171 C093 4AD3 1364 * -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (FreeBSD) Comment: http://www.lucida.ca/pgp iD8DBQE6WOaHMXHAk0rTE2QRAuieAKCNr/lUbesKUaFdLslK8F5+9avAfgCfYZ3K 1pLkIw5LAOj/sRNbmqeM1u0= =stWv -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
