There's a tutorial for users new to both FreeBSD and unix at
http://www.freebsd.org/tutorials/newuser/newuser.html
also available (as a single document instead of html pieces) at
http://andrsn.stanford.edu/FreeBSD/newuser.html

This document and the documentation that comes with FreeBSD mentions
various books--once you get a few titles in mind, you might want to
browse a good bookstore to find out what suits you.
