Thank you for your informative response.  As I mentioned before, I am new to
both Unix and FreeBSD.  Can you tell me how to rebuild the password file?
What are the steps involved?

I've never rebuilt the password db after editing /etc/group.  I think you
may've mentally crossed a file or two.  :)

BTW, if you use 'vipw' to edit your passwd file, you don't have to manually
rebuild anything.
