I've been meaning to ask this one for awhile.

I'm running 5.4-STABLE and I cannot use my network card *without*
booting with ACPI enabled.  The net contains trouble with people having
this type of issue with Realtek cards and ACPI *enabled*.  I have a
Gigabyte m/b with an onbard adapter that is assigned the sk driver.

So the symptom is "watchdog timeout" during DHCP discovery at the boot
stage.  My networking is non-functional if I try to boot with ACPI.

dmesg says (during a successful boot):
