argh.  I've ended up doing a complete reinstall and build after 
trying to put drdos into spare space--if you need this, don't
use it's fdisk under *any* circumstance--it tends to screw
up partition tables in a reproducable manner (as opposed to
win 3.1, which did it at random).

anyway, most is rebuilt, but I'm not getting handles on my xterms
(or anything else, I presume).

where do I put system.fvwmrc (I managed to recover it from
lost&found, but couldn't tell where it came from)
