I put a new version of porting.sgml in my home directory on freefall.
This is an almost complete rewrite, as the diff file (not context or
unified, just diff) is almost as long as both the old and new versions 
combined.

Please take a look and commit it.  I did run it through sgmlfmt a few
times here, at least the html output looks ok.
