Julian The VT8233 driver in 4.6.X is broken because VIA changed the supported register sets between revisions of the chipset. After wasting a huge amount of time tracking this down, getting specs from VIA, and being able to borrow a motherboard with a more recent chip revision, there is an entirely new driver for the VT8233 in -STABLE now and due for inclusion in 4.7. Quite a few people have tested this and have reported back positively. If you want to use this now, there is a patch you can download. Details are available in the PR on this subject: http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/38792 If you chose to apply this I would suggest replacing ${SRC}/sys/dev/sound/pci/vt8233.c with the latest version from CVS: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/~checkout~/src/sys/dev/sound/pci/via8233 .c?rev=1.2.2.1&content-type=text/plain Cheers - Orion To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
