--6Nae48J/T25AfBN4 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline I'm forwarding this message as an FYI. It's pertinent to the discussion we had a few weeks ago about menu creation, and we'll need to begin thinking about how we're going to incorporate this new application's features and functionality. It sounds to me like this is something that we could utilize in the post-install stage to create FreeBSD-generated menus, much like Debian and some of the other snazzier Linuces. # Adam -- Adam Weinberger adamw@magnesium.net || adamw@FreeBSD.org adamw@vectors.cx || adamw@gnome.org http://www.vectors.cx --6Nae48J/T25AfBN4 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Return-Path: <gnome-i18n-bounces@gnome.org> X-Original-To: adamw@magnesium.net Delivered-To: adamw@magnesium.net Received: from mx2.freebsd.org (mx2.freebsd.org [216.136.204.119]) by toxic.magnesium.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id E54DDDA8A8 for <adamw@magnesium.net>; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 07:59:40 -0800 (PST) Received: from hub.freebsd.org (hub.freebsd.org [216.136.204.18]) by mx2.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 96E0955915 for <adamw@magnesium.net>; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 15:59:40 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnome-i18n-bounces@gnome.org) Received: by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 9317D16A4CF; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 15:59:40 +0000 (GMT) Delivered-To: adamw@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.FreeBSD.org (mx1.freebsd.org [216.136.204.125]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9101316A4CE for <adamw@freebsd.org>; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 15:59:40 +0000 (GMT) Received: from menubar.gnome.org (menubar.gnome.org [12.107.209.248]) by mx1.FreeBSD.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 645DD43D1F for <adamw@freebsd.org>; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 15:59:40 +0000 (GMT) (envelope-from gnome-i18n-bounces@gnome.org) Received: from localhost (unknown [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C581E3B114B; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:38 -0500 (EST) Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([12.107.209.248]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 10000-02; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:36 -0500 (EST) Received: from menubar.gnome.org (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2183B3B1096; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:36 -0500 (EST) X-Original-To: gnome-i18n@gnome.org Delivered-To: gnome-i18n@gnome.org Received: from localhost (unknown [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B48F93B1096; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:33 -0500 (EST) Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([12.107.209.248]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 09995-02; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:32 -0500 (EST) Received: from mx1.redhat.com (mx1.redhat.com [66.187.233.31]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 307A13B10B8; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:32 -0500 (EST) Received: from int-mx1.corp.redhat.com (int-mx1.corp.redhat.com [172.16.52.254]) by mx1.redhat.com (8.12.11/8.12.11) with ESMTP id iA9FxUYd017140; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:30 -0500 Received: from mail.boston.redhat.com (mail.boston.redhat.com [172.16.76.12]) by int-mx1.corp.redhat.com (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id iA9FxTr05030; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:29 -0500 Received: from [127.0.0.1] (sebastian-int.corp.redhat.com [172.16.52.221]) iA9FxR26020116; Tue, 9 Nov 2004 10:59:27 -0500 From: Mark McLoughlin <markmc@redhat.com> To: Desktop Devel <desktop-devel-list@gnome.org> Content-Type: text/plain Message-Id: <1100015967.16131.20.camel@blaa> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Ximian Evolution 1.4.6 (1.4.6-2) Date: Tue, 09 Nov 2004 15:59:28 +0000 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org Cc: GNOME I18N List <gnome-i18n@gnome.org> Subject: new panel menus implementation X-BeenThere: gnome-i18n@gnome.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "Internationalization \(I18N\) of GNOME" <gnome-i18n.gnome.org> List-Unsubscribe: <http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n>, <mailto:gnome-i18n-request@gnome.org?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: </archives> List-Post: <mailto:gnome-i18n@gnome.org> List-Help: <mailto:gnome-i18n-request@gnome.org?subject=help> List-Subscribe: <http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n>, <mailto:gnome-i18n-request@gnome.org?subject=subscribe> Sender: gnome-i18n-bounces@gnome.org Errors-To: gnome-i18n-bounces@gnome.org X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at gnome.org X-Bogosity: No, tests=bogofilter, spamicity=0.000000, version=0.92.4 Hi, Just a heads up - I've imported a new module to CVS - "gnome-menus" - which will contain the following: * libgnome-menu - an implementation[1] of the new menu spec[2] * .menu files which define how the menus are laid out * .directory files which used to be in gnome-desktop * gnome-test-menu-spec - a little test program used for testing the implementation against the test suite in freedesktop.org CVS. I've also committed a patch to make the panel use libgnome-menu rather than the "vfolder" gnome-vfs module. I expect we'll be removing the vfolder module from gnome-vfs fairly soon. One thing to note is that in order for your menus to work correctly you'll now need to set $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS to $(prefix)/etc/xdg. Cheers, Mark.
