Both FreeBSD. The one is my internet gateway. When I start linux-netscape4.78 on the gateway machine and I don't have a connection it breaks off with showing me a popup box that it cannot locate the remote server and it stays ok. That's the way it should be. On the other machine (on the LAN) it wants to look up www.netscape.com or similar as soon as I start it up which makes it kinda hang for about 5 minutes. Not even the window gets redrawn in that time. After that time it behaves normal (more or less). I have set up my /etc/hosts more or less correctly I guess and I have the name servers in /etc/resolv.conf. These two files are pretty much identical with the one on the gateway. So this may not be the problem. Does anyone have a clue why netscape has this strange behavior?
