This probably won't be of any help to you, but I had a similar problem (dead serial port A) on an Ultra 2 a couple months ago. The thing had me stumped for a month and a half - the fix was so stupid it's mind numbing. I yanked the cpu's, wiped off the connectors, and everything was fixed. go figure. -m On Wed, 7 Apr 2004, Stephane Bortzmeyer wrote: > On Monday 5 April 2004, at 21 h 31, the keyboard of Stephane Bortzmeyer > <stephane@sources.org> wrote: > > > My UltraSparc 10 no longer boots and displays nothing on the console: > > Apparently, the problem was just a failure of serial port A (broken connector or serial port dead?). I plugged in a Sun keyboard and a Sun screen and I resetted the NVRAM by holding Stop and N together during the boot. Then, I was able to tell the machine to use serial port B : > > setenv input-device ttyb > setenv output-device ttyb > reset > > and it works fine. > > Many thanks for those who suggested possible solutions. > > Now, I can work on my -CURRENT problem :-) > > Additional TCP options:. > Starting inetd. > Starting background file system checks in 60 seconds. > > Wed Apr 7 20:49:19 CEST 2004 > IOMMU fault virtual address 0xc0730000 > panic: pcib: uncorrectable DMA error AFAR 0x723cc0 AFSR 0x270000ff00000000 > at line 739 in file /usr/src/sys/sparc64/pci/psycho.c > Debugger("panic") > Stopped at Debugger+0x1c: ta %xcc, 1 > db> > > > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-sparc64@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-sparc64 > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-sparc64-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" >
