Wow. My old web page:

gives details of how to get FreeBSD 2.2.5 & cdrecord 1.5/1.6 to build and 
work, and how to use it. There's a few non-obvious wrinkles from that epoch...

I'd be astonished if it didn't work. Certainly did for me in 1998... (Must 
update that page sometime to say that none of this is necessary for a long 
time now :)
