I updated to Gnome 2.18 shortly after its release, and so far it has been a disaster for me. I'll start with trackerd, which is probably easy to fix. Right now top shows it is consuming 120% of my CPU time (it is a dual system). I have disabled tracker in the Gnome Sessions panel, and set the following in tracker.cfg: EnableWatching=false EnableIndexing=false EnableFileContentIndexing=false No go. The man page does not list how simply to turn it off. The suggested file tracker.cfg(5) does not exist. How can I turn it off for now? Frank
