I'm currently using a Perc5i PCIe 2-port SAS controller in production on 7.2-RELEASE amd64. It's whatever came with the Dell PowerEdge 1950 I'm running, and it's been rock-solid; no RAID capabilities at all, but hosts a gmirror just fine.
