Thank you for your response! It just seems as though no matter how fast =
the moving targets, it still wouldn't be an issue if this were all just =
one CD set or at least two sets always snapped at the same time... =
After all, since they tend to go into the same PowerPack, it seems like =
all the Packages ought to at least have the same date as the Release and =
all the Distfiles ought to at least match the Release's ports =
collection, however outdated it all at least harmoniously already =
becomes by the time the PowerPack even hits the shelves!!!

Dennis

Ports are upgraded constantly; for fast-moving targets like GNOME

there will often be several software releases in a week. As for

packages, from time to time the port is unbuildable, due to a mistake

in the port or bugs in the software.

Subject: incompatability between PowerPack 6/01 TOOLKIT and 9/01 OS =
disks

Greetings;

Wondering if I maybe just missed the point somewhere or whether there =
really are packages and distfiles on the June, 2001 TOOLKIT disks that =
are incompatible with the September, 2001 OS disks, even though they're =
all included in the same FreeBSD PowerPack 4.4...

An example is the gedit program that apparently couldn't build as a port =
from the TOOLKIT disks because of the already obsolete distfile, but =
that also didn't seem to exist as a package on any of the OS disks! Of =
course it's on one of the "TOOLKIT Packages" disks, but that would =
apparently create conflicting dependencies such as Gnome 1.2 along side =
the already installed Gnome 1.4!!!

Thank you and have a great day,
