Well, yeah, that's how it should work!

I'll look into that and see if we can provide bug to bug compatibility
with Linux.

I don't think that was introduced with my changes.  The generic socket
buffer code should have done the same.  Question to submitter: can you
confirm this isn't a regression? E.g. on stable/14 does it work the
same?
