No. If you install Ghostscript (packages and ports collection) you can use
it as a driver to convert PostScript into a lot of printer specific
formats.  For example, my printer at home is an old Epson-compatible
matrix printer (9 pins) which does well with Ghostscript. 

Please look into the section about printing in the handbook to get details
about filter scripts using Ghostscript.
