Well, without knowing which versions of X and FreeBSD you're running,
we can't even begin to diagnose the problems.

Note that ATI has the rather nasty habit of releasing a series of
cards with the same name but different chipsets. So while there is a
rage 128 driver if you've got the correct version of X - I've used it
- it may not work with your card if they've changed the chipset.
