[This mail is a _little bit_ late (was written last week) because I had some trouble with the dns reverse lookup of this box - so the original mail got bounced. Hope this may be still of interest for you!] Don't know if this is just a useless "me too" mail for you but I wanted to tell you that I'm happy again with my notebook and FreeBSD-stable as of yesterday (8/27) or in short - whooho! Thank you very much Warner! The past few days I sometimes cursed myself that I had updated the system from 4.3-stable to 4.4-prerelease because the only way to get my pccards working was booting my old 4.3 kernel. Every other thing I tried (setting the numerous switches you build in the newest patches) was to no avail so I really thought about just giving up and downdating to 4.3 before your commit. But now everything is fine just like before and the curious thing is that I didn't even had to set any of the switches (hw.pcic.intr_path or hw.pcic.irq) - it worked right out of the box. So thanks again. I'll attach the output of dmesg for pccard before and after my latest cvsup... -------------------[Snip]------------------- BEFORE: FreeBSD 4.4-PRERELEASE #0: Sat Aug 25 17:42:22 CEST 2001 [...] pcic0: at device 4.0 on pci0 pcic0: PCI Memory allocated: 0x44000000 pcic0: TI12XX PCI Config Reg: [speaker enable][pwr save][pci only] pcic0: Failed to allocate managment irq device_probe_and_attach: pcic0 attach returned 5 pcic0: at device 4.1 on pci0 pcic0: PCI Memory allocated: 0x44001000 pcic0: TI12XX PCI Config Reg: [speaker enable][pwr save][pci only] pcic0: Failed to allocate managment irq device_probe_and_attach: pcic0 attach returned 5 [...] AFTER: FreeBSD 4.4-RC #26: Tue Aug 28 16:10:38 CEST 2001 [...] pci_cfgintr_unique: hard-routed to irq 10 pci_cfgintr: 0:4 INTA routed to irq 10 pcic0: irq 10 at device 4.0 on pci0 pcic0: PCI Memory allocated: 0x44000000 pcic0: TI12XX PCI Config Reg: [speaker enable][pwr save][FUNC pci int + CSC serial isa irq] pccard0: on pcic0 pci_cfgintr_unique: hard-routed to irq 10 pci_cfgintr: 0:4 INTB routed to irq 10 pcic1: irq 10 at device 4.1 on pci0 pcic1: PCI Memory allocated: 0x44001000 pcic1: TI12XX PCI Config Reg: [speaker enable][pwr save][FUNC pci int + CSC serial isa irq] pccard1: on pcic1 [...] ------------------[/Snip]------------------- Sincerely yours, Hank To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mobile" in the body of the message
