I don't have many nerves=20 > left! :) You either have to do: pkg_deinstall -fR gnome2 Then do a: pkg_add -r gnome2 =46rom rom the Tinderbox. Or use portupgrade -PP to upgrade from GNOME 2.6 to 2.8 using packages.
