Here's an image that I dd'ed off of a 1GB PQI usb stick. It's a relatively recent -CURRENT. I checked, and it boots on my Via VB8001. http://shrimp.alerce.com/FreeBSD-CURRENT-usb.img.bz2 You should be able to dd it on to a stick and get going. I've had mixed results trying to boot off of various usb flash drives. Seems like maybe there are different flavors or something.... If one doesn't work, try another? g.
