I wanted to try this with the new installer, rather than the old sysinstall. When I got to the partitioning dialog, I became a little concerned, in that, unlike the earlier sysinstall, both drives' current partitioning schemes were displayed, and I didn't feel too comfortable with making any changes and possibly disturbing my working installation on ada0, so I quickly exited and used the command line tools to accomplish the job. OK, call me paranoid, but I'd personally much prefer to be able to select a single drive as before, to know that I'm working only with that device at the moment, and be able to feel reasonably certain that no other device will be touched. The current dialog doesn't exactly foster that feeling. While I can see where there may be some benefits to having all known devices/partitions displayed at once (say, for the sake of flexibility), nonetheless, it can also feel a little unsafe, if not downright unnerving. Perhaps some alternative could be provided? I've been away for a good while, and will admit to not having followed any of the discussion leading up to the current design, but does anyone think there may be something to what I'm saying? Over the long haul, it could become an issue that you may be hearing about from users other than myself. Thank you, and I hope this isn't considered a waste of bandwidth. :-) -- Conrad J.
