(Previous attempt to post this bounced back) Concerning the bootloader, There is a tiny (64k!) version of python: http://www.tinypy.org/ So, I guess it's doable. There was also a GSoC project to update the bootloader to ficl4. https://svnweb.freebsd.org/socsvn/soc2015/clord/ The illumos bootlader already uses ficl4 BTW. Cheers, Pedro.
