It's possible that it's a Java problem.  Socket code in Java on FreeBSD
*SUCKS*, but no-one has the time to profile/optimizeit.  Also, make sure
they are running the most recent JDK, which contains a # of fixes over
the JDK1.1.5 port.  For java, see
