You definitely need to use ppp -nat when you start it.

Looks to me like you're pinging the Win98 box as
10.10.10.24, but setting it up as 10.10.10.2.  And
tun1 (which is your ppp connection to the FreeBSD
box) does not show 10.10.10.2 or 10.10.10.24.  

If you can't "mutually ping" you're not going to be
able to get to the Internet through the FreeBSD box.
So that's the problem connection.
