I am running FreeBSD 4.3, A few weeks ago I set up a USR 33.6 FaxModem = ( about 4 years old) to my first serial port (COM1). Everything worked = fine, the getty started at 19200 and I could connection using = Reflections of Hyperterminal at a fixed speed of 19200. I had to shut the system down yesterday, in order to move the server. I = now get a login prompt. I connect ok, the modem answers but I get = garbage. I have tried hitting return once per second and sending a = break. I cannot figure out what is going on????? I have a getty process = running fine. I did however get one message from Reflections (during my = many dial attempts) saying the COM port could not be configured, but I = think this relates to my laptop modem I have a new USR 56K Faxmodem. I have tried this before but could not = get it to work. Can you help me to do either on of two things: 1) Troubleshoot the 33.6 modem to get it working 2) Tell me how to set up the new USR 56K FaxModem Many thanks Martin Quinn ------=_NextPart_000_001F_01C12821.322C2430 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Diso-8859-1"> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.50.4134.600" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message -----=20 <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A=20 title=3Dmartyjquinn@eircom.net = href=3D"mailto:martyjquinn@eircom.net">Martin=20 Quinn</A> </DIV> <DIV><B>To:</B> <A title=3Dfreebsd-quetions@freebsd.org=20 href=3D"mailto:freebsd-quetions@freebsd.org">freebsd-quetions@freebsd.org= </A>=20 </DIV> <DIV><B>Sent:</B> Saturday, August 18, 2001 5:32 PM</DIV> <DIV><B>Subject:</B> Dial in connection using USR modem</DIV></DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Hello,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I hope someone can help me, = please!!.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>I am running FreeBSD 4.3, A few = weeks ago I=20 set up a USR 33.6 FaxModem ( about 4 years old) to my first = serial=20 port (COM1).
