At one point OpenJDK 7 worked on Mac OS X/Power PC using the Zero VM.  I
don't think anyone has touched it for a while, but that seems like a more
likely base than an entirely new port.  FWIW.  You should naturally work
on whatever sparks your interest, I'm just pointing out that I think you're
signing up for considerably more work going this way.
