I have an ASUS A7V8X that has ATA SATA RAID options. There are no drives hooked up to it. When the box boots it hangs (not for too long) when its probing the SATA interface. I dont remember if there was any options in the bios to disable it, but is it possible to turn it off via a hint or kernel option... Thanks dmesg snip -- atapci0: <Promise PDC20376 SATA150 controller> port 0xb800-0xb87f,0xd000-0xd00f,0xd400-0xd43f mem 0xf2000000-0xf201ffff,0xf2800000-0xf2800fff irq 11 at device 8.0 on pci0 atapci0: failed: rid 0x20 is memory, requested 4 ata2: channel #0 on atapci0 ata3: channel #1 on atapci0 ata4: channel #2 on atapci0 -- snip -- atapci1: <VIA 8235 UDMA133 controller> port 0xa000-0xa00f,0x376,0x170-0x177,0x3f6,0x1f0-0x1f7 at device 17.1 on pci0 ata0: channel #0 on atapci1 ata1: channel #1 on atapci1
