Earlier versions will have a different device, but it should be obvious which one it is when you look at the /sys/i386/conf/LINT file. For burnin CD's, I believe the burncd program is the one that you want for ATAPI devices. I am not sure exactly how you use it, you can check the mailing list archives at www.freebsd.org and search for "burncd", as I have seen references to a "how to burn CD's FAQ" in some of the messages.
