Message-ID: <20010615232132.G45164@kirk.sector14.net> Mail-Followup-To: Doug Lee , freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i Organization: Bartimaeus Group Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I'm looking for a program I can run under FreeBSD which will allow me to talk (voice to voice) with people on the Internet. I don't mind if I need X to build it, but I don't want to use a GUI when running it (run-time X support requirements are ok, but it must run inside a Screen session on a serial console connection). It would be really nice if it could communicate with one or more of the Windows packages which exist. Voice quality is important; obviously video support is not. :-) So far, all I've spotted (in a quick search or two in /usr/ports) is /usr/ports/mbone/speak_freely, but I don't know how well it works and have no idea who among those I know might want to run it at the other end so I can find out. If bandwidth becomes an issue in comparison, I have a 128K/1.5M (I think) cable connection. I am running FreeBSD STABLE, updated 05/28/01, and I have a ports tree at least as fresh. I'm ok with building from (non-ports) source, at least if it's not too messy. Thanks in advance for any advice/pointers. -- Doug Lee dgl@visi.com http://www.visi.com/~dgl Bartimaeus Group doug@bartsite.com http://www.bartsite.com "While they were saying among themselves it cannot be done, it was done." --Helen Keller To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
