That was part of the plan, yes. Basically, I want to be able to stick arbitrary data into the environment very early on in the piece, and then have things like the SRM net driver pull them out. I don't have a machine that doesn't set the ethernet address in the booted-device string, so I don't know what it looks like in that case.
