I don't think I have a RedHat 8 box handy, but, it might work to take the 2.1.7 source rpm from Fedora and rebuild it on a RedHat 8 box: rpm -i freetype-2.1.7.src.rpm cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS rpmbuild -bb freetype.spec cd ../RPMS/i386
