Speaking of supermicro, I have a dual xeon 2.8 server stopped right now, because it keeps segfaulting. I'm using FreeBSD 5.3-STABLE, but this has always happened since 5.2.1-RELEASE. This server is stopped for some 8 months now.. It will run fine with one CPU (ie can buildworld for days); I've tested the 4GB RAM with various memory tester programs and it has always come up fine. When I add the 2nd processor, buildworld will start to randomly segfault, and the server will eventually lock up completely. I've also tried single-proc but alternating between the two, to rule out a screwed up processor. Also tried resetting BIOS to defaults, and HTT is turned off. Is this a problem with FreeBSD itself? Anyone has similar problems ? > > Supermicro told me that they have stopped verifying their new boards with FreeBSD because "most users have moved to Fedora Core or Mandrake", which I find somewhat hard to believe. > > If you buy their systems or boards, it would be a good idea to let them know of the OS choice. > > Pete > > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-smp@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-smp > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-smp-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" >
