It turned out that I had chosen the US -ISO-Unix keyboard. The Unix keyboard does a caps lock when you hit the left ctrl button. Bad for typing in a password. Anyhow, I reinstalled cause I had nothing to lose and practice makes perfect you see, I chose the US-ISO keyboard and stayed away from the unix one. Just thought I'd throw that in. I had=20 that very same problem once during an install.
It=20 turned out that I had chosen the US -ISO-Unix = keyboard.
