It is third parties like you that I'm doing this. http://people.freebsd.org/~imp/bsdkmod-patches contains what I hope to commit if people want to comment on it before I do. You'll need sources in the standard place, or overide it with SYSDIR. I've been using them at Timing Solutions (my employer) for a couple of weeks now.
