Nope, as I said, I checked out a completely new tree from the repository. FWIW, my real ports tree (including distfiles) runs to 3.1 GB. I'd guess that your file system block size is smaller than mine. The default for new file systems is now 16 kB block and 2 kB fragments, and since nearly every file in the Ports Collection is smaller than the old 512 bytes fragment size, this means that they are now 1.5 kB larger. My ports tree currently has 170,000 files in it (including distfiles, admittedly; I don't want to check out again), so that's in the right ball park.
