What is missing is that the graphics ports are not installed on your system
(I just went thru the same thing).  You need to make sure that gidlib jpeg
and tiff34 are installed.  then you need to deinstall and reinstall eterm.
Also if you want to use Windowmaker you need to deinstall and reinstall it
so it will load properly.
