I looked around my documentation, and although I've lots of info on how they work software-wise, I've little on the hardware interfacing. My problem is most easily explained by an example from DOS. I put a floppy into the drive, do a DIR. I take that floppy out, put another one in, then do another DIR. I get the listing from the first disk. The only way to get it to update is to remove the floppy completely, do the DIR, let it time out, and then reinsert the floppy (the new DIR gives results for the new floppy inserted). Somehow, changing floppies isn't detected. I figure (since I built both my systems myself) that I've caused this, but I don't know if the trouble lies in the floppy, cable, or motherboard. I have VOM/pulse catcher, I can probe the bus, but no docs on what I should see. If anyone could help, or at least tell me what I ought to buy to read to figure this out, I'd appreciate it. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 9120 Edmonston Ct #302 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and picnic, both FreeBSD (301) 220-2114 | version 3.0 current -- and great FUN! ----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
