Normally my understanding is on most machines, every other LAPIC id is on the same package. So 0,2,4,6 would be on one package and 1,3,5,7 would be on another (say in a 2-way quad-core) and I am assuming (I haven't checked source) that the OS lists them in LAPIC order. Thanks! -aps
