Hi, have you checked the errata for 2.2.5-RELEASE? Please take a look at http://www.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/2.2.5-RELEASE/ERRATA.TXT or go to 2.2-STABLE after 97/08/11. >From your problem description, I would guess that the kernel problem in 2.2.5-RELEASE is the one biting you. If it should be another, please tell me.
