But it's somewhat funny that the problem somewhere disappeared between 4.6.2-RELEASE and 4.8-RC. So with a recent -stable box this isn't really needed, maybe this is the reason why there weren't more complains about this. I don't know about -current as I do not have a P4 running it. In sum: I think the PR can be closed (with or without the patch).
