Cannot take time to try for now (still busy rebuilding every installed ports
with poudriere after recent __FreeBSD_version bump on stable/15), but found
this page linked from niri upstream.

It wouldn't be FreeBSD-specific, so nvidia themselves should fix internally=

assume.

And when I've tried some Wayland compositors, some of them (at least Wayfir=
e)
hesitates to start when the user attempting to start it is belonging to gro=
up
wheel as the user's primary group. (Patch should be available, but cannot
recall if it was committed or not.)
Anyway, trying Wayland is too much a pain for me at least for now.
