Noone seems to have posted an equivalent of this, but try:

alias gps='ps | sed -e "s/\/.[^ ]*\///" | sed -e "/  PID/d" | sort +4'

Remove the '=' if you're using (t)csh.

It's not perfect, but you get the idea.
